Introduction to Huguenot genealogy

This book covers some of the basic history of the Huguenots and their settlement areas in Great Britain and later in North America and South Africa.
It discusses the records from the United Kingdom which can assist a researcher in tracing Huguenots. Everything from Probate to Livery Company records are discussed. In addition, a brief chapter is included on research sources in France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland.
This is a good introductory book, particularly if you suspect that your Huguenots passed through Britain in their travels.

How did I get so lucky?

I feel like I found a treasure! This is a very old book and it has a wealth of information in it about the Huguenots. I'm using this along with a "Great Courses" course on the Reformation in order to find out about my ancestory. It's difficult to trace then because of the wars, massacres, and burning of churches where the records were held. This book is great about putting it in context. It's difficult if you don't know the history of France. The author gives just enough background information to hlep create a context. If you are totally clueless about the history of France like me, it might be good to back it up with further reading, but this really is a fantastic resource. I'm thrilled to have found this.

Fantastic Textbook Primer on Package Design

This is one of the best books on package design I've seen in many years.

Whether you are a student, junior designer, marketing professional, advertising executive, brand manager - or, anyone who will play any role in the package design process - this is a must-have reference. It should be required reading for the same list.

I am founder and principal of my own package design firm for more than 25 years. Even so, this is a refreshing reminder of the "how and why" of what we do.

The writing is to-the-point and without much of the useless design-speak one might expect. With high-quality images the book covers the entire process, reasoning and importance of packaging. Examples range from big-picture concepts to required details.

Beautiful Book

I was required to purchase this book for my package design course at my university and I am real impressed with the layout and information in this book. The photography is excellent and the book contains Q/A interviews with famous designers which turn out to be very interesting and helpful. The price on Amazon was cheaper than at my university bookstore so I am happy.

I had to buy this for a packaging design class, and was happily surprised by how informative yet fun it is. It could ALMOST even a coffee table book, because it's not that thick, has a pretty cover and is interesting. It helped me out in my final portfolio preparation too, because it gave me really good advice and ideas for how to create a portfolio for my designs. Good book!!

Inspiring

This book tops the list of "very short introductions." If the purpose of these wonderful books is to provoke fascination and interest in learning more, then The Cell has completely succeeded. I have taken an interest in microbiology in my early retirement, and this nugget filled in many gaps in my ignorance and explained the mechanics of life. It represents the kind of learning that makes me chuckle -- like an explosion of pop rocks in the brain.

This book is great if you don't like reading long textbooks. It's easy to read and makes Anatomy and Physiology more interesting. I was recommended this book from a friend who used this book and another study guide and got over a 90 average. The other two books I highly recommend are the following:

The last two study guide showed me the kind of questions I saw on my college exams. My friend was right. I used these 3 books and also got an "A" in my college A and P class.

The Best A & P Study Guide

Do you want an "A" and still have a life? Then buy this book. I've gotten A's from my first two A&P classes because of it.
I have no science background. The assigned textbook is so huge I avoid looking at it as much as possible. Instead, I rely on my lecture notes and Schaum's when ever I can. Yes, there are times I am forced to use my assigned text, but there are plenty of times when Schaum's covers the point without wasting my time, and highlights important concepts as well.
So do yourself a favor and buy this Outline...unless you like the idea of going blind over a 50 pound tome while your social life withers and dies from neglect.

FABULOUS! Exactly what you want!

Truly a great find! I use it to review for my midterms and finals with great results. Really feel it has kept my B+ average from sliding. Concise, to the point, and all the best parts of my text book in 10 pages or less, per chapter. Fully solved exercises could be a bit more extensive (only 6-8 multiple choice questions per chapter) but I won't look this gift horse in the mouth. Giving this to my friend who is one quarter behind me, with my full recommendation.

Great Book

This book was recommended to me by a professor who said "Partnership Tax is the HARDEST law school class you will ever take!" She was absolutely correct. As an accounting major, I figured I would have a leg up on the competition, but I was way off. Taxation of partnerships is just confusing and completely different from any other tax system you have learned.

This book is a must buy!

Good introduction to partnership law

This is a good introduction to partnership law, which, as the author tells you in every other chapter, is one of the most difficult areas of the tax code. (Don't be fooled when the author first tells you that "this is the most difficult area of partnership law" - that phrase is repeated in at least four subsequent chapters!)

The chapters are short, comprehensive, and have easy-to-follow examples. If that wasn't enough, the IRS actually lists this book as a reference in its "Partnership Audit Technique Guide" (see chapter 3 - "Contribution of Property with Built-in Gain or Loss"). If the IRS says it is good, who am I to say otherwise?
