About the Author
Herbert L. Nichols, Jr., has devoted most of his business and professional life to earth-moving and heavy equipment. A longtime private consultant, he owned his own excavation and grading business in Connecticut for many years. In addition to his widely translated benchmark work Moving the Earth, he is the author of Excavator Operation, Heavy Equipment Repair, and numerous other books and manuals in the field. He is a member of the American Association of Cost Engineers, the American Institute of Mining Engineers, and the American Welding Society.

David A. Day, P.E., is a consultant with ABCO Engineering Corporation, with nearly 50 years of experience in civil engineering and construction. A graduate of Cornell University and the University of Illinois with a master's degree in construction and structures, he is the author of Construction Equipment Guide. Mr. Day is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the National Academy of Forensic Engineers.

A must for anyone in excavation!

Moving the Earth starts with descriptive details on land clearing, surveying, properties of rock, soil, mud, different methods to digging basements, ditching and dewatering, lanscaping, roads, blasting, tunneling, and pit operations. Each method goes into great detail on how the work is performed and how the work is recommended to be done. Chapter 11 goes through the costs and management of excavation. The last half of the book goes through all of the machines used in excavation today.
I recommend this book to anyone involved in excavation.

Wright ( Time Among the Maya ) here presents a "New World" history, told from the perceived perspective of natives and lambasting the conquering whites, going back to Columbus: Cortes, de Soto, Pizarro, for example, are seen as crass, cruel, greedy invaders. To illustrate what he views as an epic wrong, the author probes five tragic encounters--with Aztec, Maya, Inca, Cherokee and Iroquois cultures. Using materials recorded as contemporaneously as possible, from the Incas to Cherokee principal chief Wilma Mankiller, the book follows a trail of treachery, blood and futility. Had the white race's diseases not wreaked havoc on the natives, writes the author, the "conquest" may have ended differently. While his scholarship proves marvelous, Wright's disjointed account is not likely to hold the reader's attention.

Clear and concise history detailing the experiences of Native Americans on both continents from 1492 to 1990, from travel-writer and Mayan specialist Wright (Time Among The Maya, 1989; On Fiji Islands, 1986, etc.). Rather than attempt a comprehensive rendering of the centuries of genocide practiced by those who came in the wake of Columbus, Wright sensibly opts to present a few of the ``highlights.'' The savagery practiced against five major cultures--the Maya, Inca, Aztec, Cherokee, and Iroquois--and their responses appear in three stages, encompassing five hundred years: the initial periods of contact in each case; the hard and bloody struggles of these peoples once the battle was joined; and the modern phase, in which resistance continues along with the resolve to endure. Using contemporary native accounts wherever possible, in the belief that the white version has been heard often enough, Wright recounts Montezuma's failed strategy to welcome Cort‚s as an equal, which led to his palace becoming his prison; the Cherokee Nation's willingness two centuries later to emulate Western civilization, which only brought forced removal to Oklahoma and death along the Trail of Tears; and other base betrayals. Even with their societies largely destroyed, however, retention of an indigenous identity for the Incan descendants in Peru and their Mayan counterparts in Guatemala, and events such as last year's tense standoff between defiant Iroquois and thousands of Canadian troops can be seen, Wright says, as evidence that a determined native resistance continues. Familiar facts but a distinctive viewpoint: an intensely partisan chronicle of centuries of dishonor, written in a fluid, vivid style. Wright's "Stolen Continents" is a seminal classic which replaces Eurocentric mythology with documented observations. The author spent many years tracing the original histories of North and South American natives as they themselves observed and recorded it. This is the material that the descendents of the conquering Europeans and their modern day American cousins were never supposed to see. Although the material in this book is probably covered in greater detail elsewhere, it is pretty unique that the experiences of indigenous groups as diverse as the Iroquois and Incas, are presented here with equal detail. One learns interesting facts about each of them. While I knew about Manco Inca's revolt and establishing a mini-Inca state in the jungle, I had no idea that this was followed by a sort of "Inca Renaissance," with plays, histories and poems written in Quechua. In addition, the five groups that Wright chose either had their own written language or quickly learned one after European contact (and the Cherokee even had their own newspaper), so this history is genuinely "through Indian eyes." The unifying thread (in addition to the resilience of all 5 groups) is that the colonization of the New World by Europeans was not significantly different that of Africa and Asia- without the disease factor, the Americas might today be wholly governed by their original inhabitants.

"Professor Shobhit Mahajan received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. He has taught at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and is currently Professor of Physics at the Department of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi. He has worked in the fields of astroparticle physics, cosmology and particle physics. Professor Mahajan has been the author of numerous articles on Science & Technology and has been a consulting editor for Down to Earth magazine. In addition, he has written more than a dozen books on popular science titles and has served as a consultant for television shows and documentary series. Professor S Rai Choudhury received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Physics from the University of Delhi. Subsequently, he has held Postdoctoral research and faculty positions at Moscow State University, Princeton University (USA), University of Michigan (USA), Purdue University (USA), Rockefeller University (USA), University of Melbourne (Australia). Professor Choudhury has authored many research papers in internationally recognised journals. He has been a Professor of Physics at the University of Delhi till 2006 . About the Author
Richard Warren Lipack has been producing and gathering definitive documentation on the band THE BEATLES since 1969. Born in 1954, author Lipack ultimately by happenstance 23 years later, stumbled upon the genesis to what has become EPOCH MOMENTS AND SECRETS, and the beginning of THE BEATLES TRILOGY.

It is this 'genesis' that actually began in autumn of 1977, when Richard Warren Lipack came to discover the original 'last concert' 35mm half-frame negatives during one of his visits to New York City. A small No. 10 envelope containing the precious strips of film came out of a basement file cabinet at Ken Galente's SILVER SCREEN movie memorabilia shop, at the time when the store was located in uptown Manhattan on the corner of Lexington Avenue and 72nd Street.

The negatives originally came from the files of the long defunct DATEBOOK MAGAZINE (ironically the very same publication that fueled the furor behind the widespread 'BEATLES BAN' just prior to the band's 1966 tour - when it published for the first time in the US - JOHN LENNON'S statement that 'The Beatles were more popular than Jesus').

In April of 1978, the author began working with the estate of the late Beatles' manager - Brian Epstein. An initial meeting in New York City between Clive Epstein and Richard Warren Lipack took place in October of 1978. In September of 1979, the Epsteins arranged for the author to be flown to England, where he stayed with the family in Liverpool. The topic of an extensive book publishing project was discussed, with prime intentions of drawing upon the author's exhaustive document and photograph collection.

The author was guest in the home of Queenie Epstein, mother of the manager. During many a breakfast at "Beech Cottage" on Calderstones Road, Richard Warren Lipack heard Queenie Epstein talk of some of the most fascinating Beatles stories from the early days that one could ever imagine!

Richard Warren Lipack is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, New York City. The author is a photographer, writer and international historical document, art and antiques dealer - with his latter interest embodying a specialty in the realm of technological artifacts and photographic art.

This book shows how the Beatles are tied into conspiracies

The Beatles were more than just a rock band. In historical context, they were part of a huge government engineered social event which has been overseen through the years by secret societies and unknown branches of U.S. and British governments. The engineering continues to evolve today.
As John Lennon has stated, one moment they were playing all kinds of seedy bars, strip joints, and dance clubs across the UK and Europe. A gritty covers band with an attitude and ability to play. The next thing he knew, they were meeting the Queen of England and heads of state across the globe as they toured. Transforming them from a heavy rock band into a cute, loveable teen sensation almost overnight was what their manager Brian Epstein did, as he promised if they did this they'd be rich beyond their dreams and be bigger than Elvis. But it went way beyond even that as their importance ballooned into political issue and their effect on the 'youth culture'. Heads of state took notice of their citizen's enchantment with the band. The 'clean' image Epstein marketed got them into family rooms around the globe; where for the band was where the money they were promised was; and for Tavistock, a worldwide opportunity to capture the minds of the entire world's youth.
What the Beatles got themselves into through Epstein's contracts and guidance, unbeknownst to them, was a role in the New World Order's plans to test out mass mind control. You'll learn about England's top secret Tavistock facilities (which as predicted in the book, now monitors all communications passing in and out of England), and how it secretly helped engineer the Beatles 'invasion' of the U.S. and then the world and why. A discussion of the Beatles' early music, and it's hypnotic "12-atonal" quality attempts to explain the reason their music seems to elicit senses within the brain common in many humans, especially those in a certain age group.
The subject of the group's decision to use and publicize their use of LSD and cannabis marijuana as they began to move in their own direction beyond their manager's initial Beatlemania-era "cute" image, and into the psychedelic-rock/hard rock era, is discussed in detail. Previously unpublished photos of the band using LSD and them performing at their last concerts appear in the book for the first time.
Secret documents are exposed from FBI, CIA files. Social engineering, the mark of the beast, Waco, black choppers, militia, mind control, the drug trade, Nazi connections, UFO and alien appearances, backwards messages. The modern multimedia presentation of music and marketing began here.
The book is not extremely organized in a comprehensible manner. It's best to take this book a chapter at a time. It seems the author may have crammed too much in one book that might have been meant for three since it says this is a trilogy. However you will learn so much more than you may want to know about how the Beatles fit into the cosmic conspiracy that you'll scare yourself. I think every major conspiracy theory is touched upon.
The book seems to weave in and out in this manner, to some great stories about the Beatles on tour and behind the scenes, with previously unpublished photos.
If any of this sounds slightly interesting, believe me, it is quite fascinating, and you should read this book immediately. What you think and saw was happening on the outside, was happening because of some very bizarre coincidences.
Interesting addendum: In 1996 An episode of the TV series "Dark Skies" was based on this book's chapter about the Beatles' first U.S. appearance on a live broadcast of the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964. Seen by 73 million viewers across the nation, (that's almost everyone who had a television set then), it was the perfect time to implant the message and test mass mind control. Was it Tavistock who masterminded it all? This book has the answers, and raises even more questions that still don't but one day we may know the answer as more government documents become declassified regarding these operations. (I'm hoping to see parts 2 and 3 of this trilogy get published with all of the events in Beatles and world history that have taken place since the book first came out in 1996.)

Druggie paranoia at its worst. I read the first 88 pages wondering what on earth this person was rambling about before I gave it up as a bad joke. Granted, there are things in government that are shameful, but 150 prisons for average citizens who refuse to bend to America's "Communist rule?" What do the Waco Davidians have to do with the Beatles? And on and on. I'm sorry I did not read the reviews before I threw my money away on this book. The pictures were ok; some appeared not to be the Beatles, but look-alikes of other valid pictures. And many can be found on the Internet.

SINGLE WORST BEATLE BOOK IN HISTORY

It is hard to imagine any publisher would publish such rubbish.The "author" can hardly string a sentence together. His conspiracy theorys, his paranoia, his LSD burnt out brain all combine to create a book virtually unreadable. Some of the pictures are nice. It ain't worth the price. Stay away from this mess. I would give it zero stars even with the pictures, but Amazon won't permit less than one. Beware!!

Basic Coaching

Helen Calder's "Grow Your Prophetic and Prayer Gifts" is a helpful, though limited introduction, for those who are beginning a personal journey into the exercise of prophetic gifts. Ms. Calder develops her teaching by tracing what she calls the "six phases" of gift and ministry growth: Beginning, Desiring, Emerging, Developing, Testing and Maturing. She offers practical wisdom and insights borne of personal experience at each stage.

The book is a helpful introduction to simple growth strategies. Particularly noteworthy is Ms. Calder's practical tone and avoidance of extremes and silliness. There are no claims here that with faith and perseverance anyone can launch a world-changing international ministry. That is refreshing. Ms. Calder offers practical advice such as deepening your relationship with God and remaining accountable to leadership. Yet, one will also not find theological depth in this work. While some might desire more, the title "Grow Your ... Gifts" seems to indicate that this was not the author's purpose.

I thought the earlier portions of the book were stronger than the later. For instance, Ms. Calder observes that there is a constellation of related gifts, including intercessory gifts, words of knowledge and wisdom, and prophecy. Advice and methods for growth in these areas are related; and Helen Calder can get you started well. Her descriptions of what emerging and developing gifts look like are often insightful; my understanding of these matters was enriched by her treatment. However, the later parts of the book seemed thinner to me by comparison. While the advice remains good, interest and impact would be improved by additional stories that flesh-out the tips and coaching she offers. And I would have appreciated more depth in the description of what these gift look like--and should not look like--in practice.

Overall, this is a helpful work for those beginning down this path. Ms. Calder has real wisdom to offer, and within the scope indicated by the title, she accomplishes her purpose well. Yet, this book will leave most wanting more. As a general introduction, Steve Thompson's "You May All Prophesy" is both a broader and deeper general introduction. Jack Deere's classics, "Surprised by the Voice of God" and "Suprised by the Power of the Spirit" combine theological sensitivity with the fascinating story of his personal journey. And Wayne Grudem's "The Gift of Prophecy in the New Testament and Today" is an indispensible foundational work for those desiring a more academic perspective. Yet none of these claim to be what "Grow Your Prophetic and Prayer Gifts" truly is: a brief and practical guide for growing toward maturity and skill in revelatory gifts. If this is what you seek, Ms. Calder's book is indeed a fine place to begin.

very scriptural and focused on the present time ministry of the Holy Spirit. A must read for Pastors seeking to reach today's spiritually open but lost generation.
